Five things to bring to your first yoga class

Your first yoga class can be a daunting experience, this list will help you get prepped for that first time. This what I recommend to anyone coming to their first class with me.

💚 Bringing your own yoga mat. Although I always have some spare ones with me, it’s nice to have your own plus it might mean you practice at home too! Let me know if you need any inspiration for your home practice and I’ll send you a link to some of my pre-recorded classes. I also have other yoga props you can use too such as blocks, blankets and bolsters. You can use them to assist you, or get cosy at the end of the practice.

💧A bottle of water, in case you need it. I like to provide herbal tea at each class too as I love a sip of a warm drink just before lying down for Savasana.

🩳 Wear comfortable clothes that you can easily move around in. It doesn’t matter what you look like, whether your clothes are old or new, lycra gym-wear, the shorts you wear to lounge around the house in, I’ve also had people wear jeans; it’s entirely up to you and there’s no judgement – I just want you to feel comfy. I also recommend bringing an extra layer, like a jumper, for the relaxation at the end. Again, it’s all about cosiness!

🧦 Don’t forget to remove your shoes before the class starts. If you get cold feet like me, you may wish to get some yoga socks.

🦋 Finally, if this is your first time trying yoga, I recommend bringing an open mind. Yoga can seem a little discombobulating at first with its butterflies, pigeons and triangles, but after a few sessions you will start learning the names and noticing the differences.

Did I miss anything? Are you new to the practice and have a different question I can help answer? Or are you looking to try a yoga class? You can see my weekly class timetable here.

Not local to me but want to try one of my pre-recorded classes? Signing up to my weekly newsletter will give you access to some of my online classes. You can sign up on my here.
